How I make my own cashew nut milk

At the beginning of last year I really started to clean up my eating and exercise habits. I had already completely overhauled my cleaning and beauty products years ago, but a lot of the foods I was consuming that I had considered to be healthy really weren’t. We consume a lot of almond and oat milk, and I wasn’t comfortable with the added ingredients that most include. So I set out to make my own. I was surprised at how simple it was. The only impediment is the time that it will take to soak the nuts.

Step one is to choose the nuts that you would like to use. Personally I really like cashew nuts, as they are the creamiest. Then simply place one cup of nuts in filtered water and store in the refrigerator overnight.

The best thing about cashew nut milk in particular is that you don’t need to strain it. Simply strain your cashew nuts, add another four cups of filtered water and blend with a high-speed blender. You can then store your milk for 3-4 days.

Bon appetit.
